The recent spy shots of the upcoming Gensol EV provide a glimpse of the unique three-wheeled electric vehicle that is set to debut in March 2024. Here are some key details revealed by the spy shots:

  1. Manufacturer and Investment:
    • The three-wheeled Gensol EV is produced by Gensol Engineering’s subsidiary, Gensol EV, a company specializing in renewable energy and electric mobility.
    • Gensol Engineering has recently invested Rs 2,000 crore in a new EV manufacturing facility in Gujarat, indicating a significant commitment to the electric vehicle market.
  2. Design and Configuration:
    • The EV features a distinctive two-door, three-wheeled setup, with a single wheel positioned at the center of the rear axle.
    • The front end of the vehicle appears conventional, while the rear tapers slightly, featuring a hatch-like opening and halogen tail lamps.
    • Teasers have previously revealed LED Daytime Running Lamps, Citroen-like halogen headlamps, a floating roof design with a moonroof, dual-tone wheels, and a unique kink in the rear quarter glass area.
  3. Interior Features:
    • The interior is expected to have a four-seat layout, including conveniences such as a large floating touchscreen infotainment system, semi-digital instrument cluster, and air conditioning.
    • In-cabin driver assistance technology, AI-based cloud analytics, and a unique user experience are also mentioned as part of the interior features.
  4. Technical Specifications:
    • While detailed technical specifications are not available yet, the company claims a range of 200km on a single charge and a top speed of 80kph.
    • These specifications position the Gensol EV as an urban runabout, with an emphasis on affordability and practicality for city commuting.
  5. Comparison and Positioning:
    • The Gensol EV might be positioned closer to the PMV Eas-E electric quadricycle, a four-door, two-seater vehicle launched the previous year at Rs 4.79 lakh, ex-showroom.
    • The emphasis on affordability and fewer luxury features suggests a target market different from higher-end electric vehicles like the MG Comet.
  6. Manufacturing Facility:
    • Gensol Engineering’s new manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune, includes an in-plant testing track and a next-generation end-of-line vehicle testing facility to ensure high-quality standards.
    • The company’s recent MoU with the government of Gujarat for a Rs 2,000 crore investment is expected to create 1,500 jobs and focus on producing both commercial and private electric vehicles.

In summary, the Gensol EV aims to be a compact urban electric runabout with a unique design, practical features, and an emphasis on sustainability in manufacturing.
