Maruti Suzuki, a leading name in the Indian automotive arena, has been gearing up for an intriguing update to its popular Wagon R model. The forthcoming Wagon R facelift has recently been spotted, nearly unveiled, hinting at an array of exterior tweaks and anticipated new features that promise to elevate this beloved hatchback’s appeal.
The test mule of the Wagon R facelift, bearing a striking resemblance to the previously glimpsed Wagon R EV prototype, surfaces amidst speculations following the shelving of the Wagon R EV project due to cost constraints. Instead, Maruti Suzuki aims to debut the Maruti eVX as its premier all-electric vehicle in 2024.
With the EV variant put on hold, the focus now seems to shift towards aligning the Wagon R facelift’s styling with cues from the EV prototype. Notably, the prototype teases a revamped bumper design adorned with repositioned reflectors and robust black cladding on the lower section, exuding a more rugged aesthetic. The subtle camouflage hints at an updated tail light design, keeping enthusiasts curious about the final reveal.
Anticipate a refreshed front profile, possibly featuring a redesigned grille, updated headlight elements, and revised bumper design while retaining the familiar fog lamps. The side profile might showcase new alloy wheel designs or updated wheel covers, lending a touch of contemporary flair to the hatchback’s aesthetics.
Inside the cabin, expect a breath of fresh air with anticipated changes like revised upholstery, an updated infotainment system, and potentially more features aimed at enhancing the overall desirability of the Wagon R.
Despite these exciting exterior and interior updates, Maruti Suzuki doesn’t plan alterations under the hood. The Wagon R facelift will persist with its existing powertrain options: the reliable 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and the robust 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. These will continue to be available with both manual and AMT gearbox choices, catering to diverse driving preferences. Additionally, the CNG powertrain option will remain a part of the lineup.
The forthcoming Wagon R facelift presents an enticing blend of refreshed design elements and potential enhancements in features, catering to the evolving tastes of hatchback enthusiasts. As Maruti Suzuki unveils this updated iteration, it promises to uphold the Wagon R’s legacy while embracing contemporary updates, offering a refreshed driving experience for its loyal fan base.
